                Private English Tutor
Yilan, Taiwan

I started at UNLC in August of 2012 and finished teaching in Taiwan in July of 2013. UNLC was a Taiwanese after school program designed to enrich students' English competency. I taught a variety of different levels of students ranging from 2nd grade to college level, so I had the opportunity to work with almost every age and ability level of English speaker from absolute beginners to students reading British literature such as an unabridged volume of Jane Eyre. This program was a lot of hard work and long hours, but the rewards of students passing exams such as the Cambridge English Language Assessment and TOEFL was a reward in itself. This experience solidified my desire to teach English, Japanese, and/or Chinese at a junior high or high school level.
